Matthew Stoessel’s expertise is in directing major capital campaigns and feasibility and planning studies throughout the Northeast. Matthew’s fundraising skills include leadership and major gift prospect research; identification and solicitation; campaign planning and execution; campaign analysis; and volunteer staff management, orientation, and training. 

Matthew recently served as Managing Director of The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Greensburg.  During his time at the Foundation, Matthew oversaw the restructuring of the Foundation’s operations and a redefining of its mission, a $45 million diocesan-wide capital and endowment campaign, the restructuring of the diocesan annual appeal, and the institution of a diocesan-wide planned giving initiative.

Matthew previously provided leadership in the Office for Stewardship & Development at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. As an assistant director, his office was in charge of overall diocesan fundraising, which included growing the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Foundation; assisting the 207 parishes in their development efforts; and providing guidance for the high schools, the diocesan mission in Peru, and the diocesan parish share program (annual appeal).  In this role, Matthew managed multiple diocesan and parish fundraising efforts, feasibility studies, and groups of volunteer leaders, and also trained the leaders in effective solicitation techniques.

Matthew is a graduate of Seton Hall University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education with a focus on History/Social Studies and a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication.
